For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Christ. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. But the king deprived Joseph of the high priesthood, and bestowed the succession to that dignity on the son of Ananus, who was also himself called Ananus. Now the report goes that this eldest Ananus proved a most fortunate man; for he had five sons who had all performed the office of a high priest to God, and who had himself enjoyed that dignity a long time formerly, which had never happened to any other of our high priests. But this younger Ananus, who, as we have told you already, took the high priesthood, was a bold man in his temper, and very insolent; he was also of the sect of the Sadducees, who are very rigid in judging offenders, above all the rest of the Jews, as we have already observed; when, therefore, Ananus was of this disposition, he thought he had now a proper opportunity. Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrin of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James, and some others; and when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned: but as for those who seemed the most equitable of the citizens, and such as were the most uneasy at the breach of the laws, they disliked what was done; they also sent to the king, desiring him to send to Ananus that he should act so no more, for that what he had already done was not to be justified; nay, some of them went also to meet Albinus, as he was upon his journey from Alexandria, and informed him that it was not lawful for Ananus to assemble a sanhedrin without his consent. Whereupon Albinus complied with what they said, and wrote in anger to Ananus, and threatened that he would bring him to punishment for what he had done; on which king Agrippa took the high priesthood from him, when he had ruled but three months, and made Jesus, the son of Damneus, high priest.

Flavius Josephus: Antiquities of the Jews Book 20, Chapter 9, 1[102] For Greek text see [3]

In the Antiquities of the Jews (Book 20, Chapter 9, 1) Josephus refers to the stoning of “James the brother of Jesus” (James the Just) by order of Ananus ben Ananus, a Herodian-era High Priest.[103][104] The James referred to in this passage is most likely the James to whom the Epistle of James has been attributed.[104][105][106] The translations of Josephus’ writing into other languages have at times included passages that are not found in the Greek texts, raising the possibility of interpolation, but this passage on James is found in all manuscripts, including the Greek texts.[104]

Flavius Josephus: Antiquities of the Jews, Book 20, Chapter 9, 1, based on the translation of Louis H. Eusebius, a 4th century church historian, said The Greek Septuagint was the only version of the Bible that the churches around the world approve of. Multiple early church fathers from several early centuries back him up on that.
The Greek Septuagint STILL has the Apocryphal books. The 3 Oldest copies of the Septuagint found contained the Apocryphal books. And those were Christian copies of the Septuagint used by the early churches in the 4th and 5th centuries.
The Orthodox Church still uses the Greek Septuagint TODAY, and the Catholic Bible is loosely based on the Greek Septuagint, which is why Catholic Bibles contain the Apocrypha.
“So it’s just Protestant Bibles that are missing the Apocryphal books?”
Well, actually, every single Protestant Bible in the 1500’s and 1600’s contained the Apocryphal books. The Tyndale, Coverdale, Matthew’s Bible, Luther’s German Bible, The Great Bible, Geneva Bible, Bishop’s Bible, and the original King James. All the Christians in the 1500’s and 1600’s, they all had the Apocrypha in their Bibles. Every single one of their Bible translations contained the Apocryphal books and chapters.
The Pilgrims sailed to America on the Mayflower in 1620. Their Geneva Bible had the Apocrypha. Their Bible has extensive marginal notes in Daniel 8, explaining how the prophecy in Daniel 8 pertains to events in Maccabees (I know, because I have a copy of the 1560 Geneva Bible and I read the notes).
George Washington placed his hand on a King James Bible when he was sworn in as president in New York in 1789. That King James Bible is sitting in the Federal Hall Museum in New York at 26 Wall Street. Guess what? That copy of the King James contained the Apocrypha, because the KJV didn’t have the Apocrypha removed until 1885, long after Washington died.
What do you mean, “If God wanted it in the Bible, then it would still be there.”?
What’s that mean? It was in Washington’s Bible.
Oh, you think that just because it’s not in YOUR translation that is promoted by your MODERN Christian church, then that means “It’s not in the Bible.”
You’ve made the mistake that:
My Translation = THE Bible
Oh, ha! You thought the world revolves around YOU!
How cute.
No, THE Bible contains the Apocrypha. It’s just missing from the translations made by Judaizers (a.k.a.
