Contraception

Both free ranging animals and those kept in captivity have been observed to be monogamous throughout their life. Continuing sexual activity even during pregnancy by the mated pair , has been interpreted by scientists as “pair bonding mechanism” Bonobos and other primates will have sex while pregnant or lactating – seemingly just for the joy of it – while short-nosed fruit bats engage in oral sex to prolong their bouts of intercourse (there might be evolutionary reasons for this, but it could also be for fun). Quotes from the Church Fathers Among the types of sexual sins, there is contraception (also called “Birth Control” or “Family Planning”), which is, essentially, the act of intentionally preventing conception and pregnancy, when engaging in sexual intercourse. Contraception is a violation of the very first commandment of God to man, which is “Be fruitful and be many” (Genesis 1:28), that is, that those who are conjoined in the marital union must produce children. There are various methods by which this sin is acted out, all of which are ancient, and were known to, and explicitly condemned by, the church fathers.
