It is also frequently used by Protestants to argue that Judith doesn’t belong in the Bible due to historical error. On the surface, their objection would seem reasonable. The Nebuchadnezzar II that we know of ruled the Neo-Babylonian empire starting in 605 B.C., only a few years after the fall of the city of Nineveh which occurred in 612 B.C. by a confederacy under Nebopolasar (his father) and Cyaxares.
