Non-Profit Organizations and Politics
The House Oversight Government Operations Subcommittee held a hearing on oversight of foundations and restrictions to their political activities, with a focus on the New York-based Clinton Foundation. The witnesses included two financial investigators who filed an IRS referral on the Clinton Foundation. The two refused requests Subcommittee Chair Mark Meadows (R-NC) to turn over to the panel the documents they submitted to the IRS.
Witnesses also included Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, and a former IRS employee who worked on non-profit tax administration.
Geocentrism: History and Background

In many ancient cultures, and until four centuries ago, most people assumed that it was the sun that moved.
Most ancient societies assumed that it was the sun moving through the stars once a year that explained this, though there were a few exceptions, such as Aristarchus (310–230 BC).
Even in ancient times, this generally was interpreted as the moon orbiting the earth, as it is understood today (the exception would be flat-earthers).
Many people think that Copernicus invented the heliocentric theory, but he didn’t, because the heliocentric model had been around since ancient times.
This challenge to the Aristotelian/Ptolemaic worldview did not go unnoticed, and it inevitably led to what is known as the Galileo affair. I will not fully discuss the Galileo affair here; instead, I will summarize it. Much of the Galileo affair has been misinterpreted as religion sticking its nose where it didn’t belong. For instance, it is usually reported that theologians immediately pounced upon Galileo’s heliocentric teachings as being contrary to Scripture. However, heliocentrism initially received welcome from theologians as an interesting topic of discussion. The complaints at first came from other scientists who thought that Galileo was attempting to upend science as then known. That was true. Since these scientists, like Galileo, mostly worked within the confines of church institutions, and with the blessing of church authorities, it was legitimate to raise these concerns within the church. Being early 17th century Italy, these officials were all Roman Catholic. A trial was convened, and a decision was handed down that forbad Galileo to continue teaching the heliocentric theory as truth. In many respects, this was nothing new, because those had been the conditions already in force. Remember that this squabble wasn’t about religion: it was a scientific controversy.
The controversy lay dormant for nearly two decades, upon which Galileo resurrected it by publishing a book on the subject. But it need not have erupted as it did. Galileo had to get permission from the Pope to publish the book, which he received. The only stipulation was that Galileo include discussion of the Pope’s position (geocentrism) in the book. Rather than writing the book in Latin, which was the custom of such treatises at the time, Galileo chose to write it in Italian to gain a much wider audience. His book was a dialogue between three individuals, one a geocentrist, one a heliocentrist, and the third a neutral moderator. But as it turned out, the moderator was hardly neutral. Furthermore, the arguments put forth by the geocentrist made him look foolish. Finally, Galileo named the geocentrist Simplico, which roughly translates into English as simpleton. Since the Pope had insisted that Galileo include the Pope’s position (geocentrism) in his book, this made the Pope look foolish. The Pope was rightly furious, and all support Galileo had enjoyed rapidly evaporated. A second trial was convened, but the fix was already in. The court found Galileo guilty of insubordination and heresy. Occurring in the aftermath of the Protestant Reformation, the latter charge could have carried very serious consequences. Fortunately, the church deemed that Galileo had not challenged theological dogma, but Galileo, now advanced in age, was required to recant and spent the rest of his life in house arrest. One consequence of the Galileo affair was that the teaching of heliocentrism was officially banned by the Roman Catholic Church, a ban that was only lifted in the late 20th century. But this was a ban in name only; within a few years even Roman Catholic institutions abandoned geocentrism in favor of heliocentrism. Also, keep in mind that prior to the ban instigated by Galileo’s actions, there had been no ban on teaching heliocentrism since Copernicus had reintroduced it 75 years earlier.
Li Yi (sociologist)
Li Yi Ph.D. (Chinese: 李毅; pinyin: Lǐ Yì, born 1961) is a sociologist.[1] He is the author of several books and journal articles on sociology.
In 2019, Li was deported from Taiwan during a visit there.[2]
Controversies
• On the 16th of October, 2020, he was invited to give a presentation at a forum in Shenzhen. During his talk, Li claimed that “The COVID-19 is most detrimental to the European and (North) American countries, whereas this pandemic is most beneficial to North Korea and China. We´ve got 4,000 people died because of it, right? But if you compare this with the 220,000 deaths in the U.S., (China’s) 4,000 death toll is equivalent to no death at all, am I correct? (Laughter after his speech.) So, there was almost no infection or no death within our country. 4,000 deaths from 1.4 billion population, that´s basically no death. Despite of this (low infection and death rate in China), there are still so many of you wearing masks in this venue. (Longer laughter.)”[3][4]
• Later in his speech, Li stated his personal opinions further, “Look at China. Currently, China´s economy is the only one that is doing well in this world. China could overtake the U.S. ahead of time (that we´ve planned), there won´t be a issue by the year 2027. The USA could not survive, the USA won´t survive this. Now I have to say, none of you among all 1.4 billion Chinese people is capable of realizing that it is not the USA who is punishing China. It is us who are giving the Americans a hard time to live.”[3]

Remove statues of Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood founder tied to eugenics and racism
How a woman who advocated for the selective breeding of her fellow citizens came to be memorialized with those who built a country is hard to understand.
KRISTAN HAWKINS | OPINION CONTRIBUTOR | 4:00 am EDT July 23, 2020
For those identifying historical figures with racist roots who should be removed from public view because of their evil histories, Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, must join that list. In promoting birth control, she advanced a controversial “Negro Project,” wrote in her autobiography about speaking to a Ku Klux Klan group and advocated for a eugenics approach to breeding for “the gradual suppression, elimination and eventual extinction, of defective stocks — those human weeds which threaten the blooming of the finest flowers of American civilization.”

But Sanger did support eugenics and did once speak to a female group associated with the KKK

In Koenig’s tweet, he states that Sanger spoke at Ku Klux Klan events.
Sanger’s appearance at one KKK event is well documented. Sanger wrote about the event herself in her 1938 autobiography “Margaret Sanger: an Autobiography.”

Sanger’s Planned Parenthood mission
In a 1939 letter to Dr. C. J. Gamble, Sanger urged him to get over his reluctance to hire “a full time Negro physician” as the “colored Negroes…can get closer to their own members and more or less lay their cards on the table which means their ignorance, superstitions and doubt.”
Like the abortion lobby today, Sanger urged Dr. Gamble to enlist the help of spiritual leaders to justify their deadly work, writing, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”
Laura McQuade, has proven to be a toxic leader and autocra[t] June 18 2020
And that spirit of racism continues today, as more than 300 former and current employees of Planned Parenthood said recently in an open letter, noting a “toxic” environment.
“Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist, white woman. That is a part of history that cannot be changed,” they observed, writing that the pattern of “systemic racism, pay inequity, and lack of upward mobility for Black staff” continues.
Birth control to eliminate the ‘unfit’
But consider Sanger’s own words. In an article titled “A Better Race Through Birth Control,” she wrote, “Given Birth Control, the unfit will voluntarily eliminate their kind.”
“Birth Control does not mean contraception indiscriminately practised,” Sanger wrote. “It means the release and cultivation of the better elements in our society.”
Just this week, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York announced it will remove Sanger’s name from its Manhattan abortion vendor location because of her “harmful connections to the eugenics movement.”

Will the Jerusalem Temple Ever Be Rebuilt?
Church Fathers Weigh In
So what happened after the temple was destroyed? How did the Church Fathers interpret Paul’s prophecy?
They had a variety of views. Some thought the passage applied to the Church, but others simply inferred that the temple would be rebuilt and that the Antichrist would take his seat in Jerusalem. Advocates of this view include:
• St. Irenaeus of Lyons (Against Heresies 5:25:4 and 5:30:4)
• St. Hippolytus of Rome (Antichrist 6)
• St. Cyril of Jerusalem (Catechetical Lectures 15:15)

Every trace of attachment to evil must be eliminated, every imperfection of the soul corrected. Purification must be complete, and indeed this is precisely what is meant by the Church’s teaching on purgatory. The term does not indicate a place, but a condition of existence. Those who, after death, exist in a state of purification, are already in the love of Christ who removes from them the remnants of imperfection (cf. Ecumenical Council of Florence, Decretum pro Graecis: DS 1304; Ecumenical Council of Trent, Decretum de iustificatione: DS 1580; Decretum de purgatorio: DS 1820).
